Terms & Conditions
This event is licensed by UK Athletics and is therefore bound to the rules and regulations of the sport as set by the governing body. Failure to abide by the rules of the governing body will lead to disqualification.
1. Entry Requirements
Entries are open to:

5K: Ages 11 and above
-
10K: Ages 15 and above
-
Half Marathon: Ages 17 and above
All entries are non-transferable and non-refundable (see section 6 for exceptions).
Participants must provide accurate information during registration.
The organiser reserves the right to refuse entry or disqualify any participant for misconduct or unsafe behaviour.
2. Race Numbers & Timing
Race numbers are personal and must not be swapped or sold.
All races are chip-timed. Participants must wear the timing chip provided to record an official result.
Lost chips or bibs may incur a replacement fee.
3. Medical & Fitness Declaration
By entering, participants confirm they are medically fit to take part and do so at their own risk.
The organiser will provide professional medical cover on-site but accepts no liability for injury, illness, or loss arising from participation.
If advised by medical personnel to withdraw during the event, participants must comply immediately.
4. Event Day Rules
The event follows UK Athletics (UKA) and Run Britain rules.
Personal music devices (e.g., headphones) are discouraged for safety reasons on open-road sections.
Participants must follow marshal and signage instructions at all times.
Spectators and supporters must stay clear of the course and obey event signage.
5. Cancellation, Refunds & Deferrals
Entry fees are non-refundable under normal circumstances.
In the event of extreme weather, public emergency, or circumstances beyond the organiser’s control, the event may be postponed or cancelled.
If cancelled, entries may be deferred to the following year.
Refunds will only be offered if the event is fully cancelled and not rescheduled.
6. Photography & Media
Official photographers and media may capture images and video during the event.
By participating, entrants consent to the use of their image for marketing, PR, and future promotion of BSRF events.
If you do not wish to appear in promotional media, please notify the organiser in writing before race day.
7. Personal Belongings
A secure bag-drop facility will be provided, but items are left at the owner’s risk.
The organiser is not responsible for lost or damaged personal property.
8. Prizes & Results
Results will be available online after the event.
Prizes will be awarded for overall winners, subject to verification.
The organiser’s decision on results and prizes is final.
9. Code of Conduct
Participants agree to run with respect for fellow runners, volunteers, marshals, and the local community.
Unsportsmanlike or abusive behaviour will result in disqualification.
Littering along the course is strictly prohibited.
10. Data Protection
Participant data will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
Information will only be used for race administration, timing, safety, and official communications.
11. Acknowledgement
By entering the Bishops Stortford Running Festival, all participants acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
